This report offers an initial exploration into the perception and maintenance of gendered social norms in the South African context on X (formerly Twitter). The report explores norms related to masculinity, femininity as well as the LGBTQIA+ community. Our findings suggest further exploration into each individual ‘category’ is necessary, with preliminary insight indicating that Masculine norms centre on leadership and provision, Feminine norms centre on submission and distrust, while LGBTQIA+ norms were laden with stigma
