The online elections conversation received more than 300,000 mentions between 2 April and 15 April 2024. The IEC’s decision to appeal the Electoral Court’s order, which allowed former president Jacob Zuma to be included in the MK Party list, was the main talking point during this period. The CABC also noted attempts to shut down opinions that criticised Zuma and the MK Party. Sentiments from online users who expressed that loadshedding (or the absence thereof) was being used for electioneering were also recorded.
